Children's Liturgy

"By the mouths of children, babes in arms, you have made sure of praise"

- Matthew 21:16

Updated guidance from the Diocesan Safeguarding Department November 2023

Can Parents or Guardians attend?
The Diocesan Safeguarding Department indicate that parents should not normally attend children’s liturgy with their children. To this guidance there are two exceptions:
• If the child has learning difficulties/disabilities or medical needs and the parent is there as a carer to help.
• At the first session for the child, the parent may attend to settle their child. However if the child is unable to be left alone with the group leaders, then they may be too young for the session.

Children's Liturgy takes place both at St. Godric’s and St. Joseph’s during the Sunday morning Mass, for the children from school age to those receiving the Sacrament of the Eucharist in Year 4. We focus on the order of the Mass, and the readings of the day, and as we break open the word, together, we can gain a better understanding of the life of Jesus and how we can learn to love and respect the precious gift of the Eucharist.
