Inclusive Church

Durham Martyrs Inclusive Group vision is to be a warm, welcoming parish for all parishioners, flexibly adapting to need, irrespective of age, health or circumstances to enable us to build a community for the service of everyone. One practical example of this is establishing our Parish as a Dementia Friendly Community with trained volunteers and facilities in accordance with best practice for those affected by dementia. We also run on the second Tuesday of every month a Memory Café for those who living with dementia and their carers. We provide a warm welcome, informal chatter and creative activities and look forward to parishioners and non- parishioners or friends coming along to our café. While we have made good progress against dementia, we are still looking to develop further our action plan to make our parish a truly “inclusive” community.
