Angels

Did you ever feel a tiny raindrop trickle down from the sky

and land upon your cheek when there is no rain in sight,

and wonder where it came from when the day is sunny and bright?

Did you ever hear someone clearly call out your name,

and when you turned to look there’s not a familiar face anywhere around

and wonder where it came from,

when the voice was there without an ounce of doubt?

The answer is quite simple,

angels are everywhere watching over you and me.

Though at times we don’t feel a presence at our side;

angels are always there

morning, noon and night in the most mysterious of ways

looking after us with much love

forever and always.

I am in the quaking of every leaf,

I am in the song of every bird that sings,

I am in the heartbeat of everyone you love,

I am in the darkness of a raging storm,

I am in the beauty of a painted sky,

I am in each teardrop every time you cry,

I am in all that your heart is holding,

All that your mind remembers,

All that your soul desires,

I am in the moonlight and the summer breeze,

I am in the dreams that you’ve seen come true,

I am in the sunlight that wakes you every morn,

I am in the aching of a broken heart,

I am in the pain that has set you free,

I am in a friend’s touch, in the one who knows you well,

I am, I am.

I am in the colours of an autumn day,

I am in the voice that begs you to stay,

I am in the child whose name for love is you,

I am, I am.

I am in the look behind forgiving eyes,

I am in the life of every breath you take,

I am in the laughter that teaches you to dance,

I am, I am.

I saw that God is everything that is good

I saw that God is everything

that is good and energising.

God is our clothing

that wraps, clasps and encloses us

so as never to leave us.

God showed me in my palm

a little thing round as a ball

about the size of a hazelnut.

I looked at it with the eye of my understanding

and asked myself,

“What is this thing?”

And I was answered,

“It is everything that is created.”

I wondered how it could survive since

it seemed so little it could suddenly

disintegrate into nothing.

The answer came,

“It endures and ever will endure,

because God loves it.”

And so everything has being

because of God’s love.
