The above poem was written by one of our parishioners, Mr. James Gilman. It has achieved some succession its short life, having been used in services at Durham Cathedral and by the Chelsea Pensioners in their own Remembrance Services (resulting in an invitation to take tea with the Governor!), and has been accepted by the British Army for use in its military bases worldwide and by The Salvation Army for use in its churches throughout the UK.
