We pray for our First Communicants this weekend and next. Such extraordinary circumstances in which to be receiving the Eucharist for the first time. And yet, such profound times. These are not normal times, and neither were the times normal when the Mass was first instituted. Perhaps it’s a real opportunity to reappraise our attitudes to this lovely occasion? We have no choice now but to appreciate the utter simplicity of the occasion. There were no photographers, large gatherings etc. Just a solemn gathering of close friends.
