St Francis Friary

"For it is in giving that we receive."

St Francis of Assisi

St Francis Friary, Durham is based in the heart of Durham city with Capuchin Friars residing in Tenter House. Currently Br. Paul, Br. John, Br. Tommy and Dominican Br. Peter make up the community.  Franciscans reformed as Capuchins in 1525 with the purpose of regaining the original Habit (Tunic) of St.Francis of Assisi and also for returning to a stricter observance of the rule established by Francis of Assisi in 1209. Brs. Paul and John regularly assist Fr. Colm within the parish saying Masses at St Godric's and St Joseph's. They also visit parish schools and attend parish events

Mass is held in the Friary for the public every Monday at 7:45am.
