S.V.P

"Charity is the cement which binds Communities to God and person to one another." -St. Vincent de Paul

The SVP is involved in helping those at home and abroad by befriending those who are housebound, helping the homeless, visiting the sick, providing financial support for those in desperate need, supporting prisoners and their families, providing meals for the hungry as well as raising money for feeding stations abroad.  The Durham Martyrs are twinned with 5 Indian twins and 1 Romanian twin sending them £150 a year. If you have any questions about the SVP and the work that we do in Durham and the North East generally, please ask an SVP member, or use the confidential telephone number.

Mini Vinnies are part of the SVP. In our parish, children from Year 4 onwards, from St Godric's RC, St Joseph's RC and St Thomas More RC  Primary Schools have been commissioned as Mini Vinnies. They help with Parish afternoons, coffee mornings, soup lunches and the Mini Triduum service for the sick and the housebound during Holy Week. For more information on the work of Mini Vinnies nationally as a whole please visit the SVP website.
